- I don't believe so; I choose when and where I check in to advertise my location
- additionally, I only disclose my location to approved friends
2. How often do you use it? How many times do you "check-in" a week?
- check in daily, maybe 1-2 times a day depending on how much i travel
- I also check in to places when I've been prompted by other friends in the vacinity
3. What's your incentive for using it? Is it worth it?
- no large incentive to check in, just a handy way to see who is around; arrange to have coffee / lunch with friends
- i did just receive a $15 gift card from blenz coffee at surrey campus for being their "mayor" however
4. Because it costs money (requires iphone & data plan), do you think there's room for growth?
- the associated costs (iPhone + data) of using foursquare is negligible; I am paying regardless for basic business functions (email / communication)
- if I were not already using iPhone + data however, foursquare does not really provide enough incentive for me to subscribe to the additional costs of data + iPhone
- I easily forget about foursquare though, and I'm unsure if it has the sticking power to grow in Vancouver... it definitely needs more business buy-in like that of blenz coffee to gain any traction
